Job Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a shepherd's heart for team building and discipleship while having a strong aptitude for organization, instruction, and building ministry structure. He will connect well with youth and will be passionate about helping them be connected to Christ. He will be biblically oriented and let it be the foundation of His interaction with leaders, staff, youth, and attenders of EEFC. The pastor of youth and discipleship's responsibilities carry different expenditures of time; the majority of the responsibility will fall on the side of discipleship.

  • Church Discipleship (primary time expenditure):
    • Partner in the vision initiatives of the church.
    • Provide temporary leadership to developing ministries.
    • Prepare agendas and lead weekly and monthly Staff meetings.
    • Assist in coordinating ministry with the Deacons, ministry leaders, and staff.
    • Meet weekly with the Senior Pastor to review ministry objectives and future planning.
    • Attend Elder Meetings and Elder/Deacon Meetings contributing to ministry discussion.
    • Assist the Senior Pastor in giving feedback for annual reviews of designated staff members.
  • Senior & Junior High Youth Ministry:
    • Lead weekly Oasis and outreach events.
    • Commit to creating an atmosphere of fun and joy.
    • Address present challenges to youth in a biblical and relevant way.
    • Meet regularly with youth leadership team members for discipleship and training.
    • Create a yearly youth ministry calendar that provides for spiritual and relational growth.
    • Provide opportunities for students and leaders to use their gifts to do ministry and service in the life of the church.
    • Champion the youth before the congregation and invite them to participate (e.g. prayer, fund-raising, etc.) regularly.
  • Shepherding:
    • Participate in visitation as needed.
    • Perform weddings and funerals when required.
    • Meet and counsel with the church family as needs arise
    • Preach at least four times a year in the morning worship service.

Education & Continued Learning: 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies or related field is desired.
  • Extensive ministry experience in some cases may be substituted.
  • Additional seminary education and training toward a ministry degree.
  • The candidate will pursue ministry licensing with the EFCA if he is not previously licensed or ordained.

Spiritual Qualifications:

  • Marked by grace and humility
  • Meet the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
  • Personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and display a life of growing faith.
  • Married and have a healthy relationship with his wife (and children if applicable) that is pleasing to God and sets a good example for others.

Requirements: 

  • Experienced in preaching and sermon preparation.
  • Creating organizational structures or tools for ministry.
  • Understand the basic principles of office management.
  • Skilled in ministry oversight of staff, volunteers, and teams.
  • Teaching the Word of God in the Youth Ministry and other settings.
  • Shepherding a youth ministry creating confidence in those he is leading.
  • Experience (3 to 5 years) in team leadership and discipleship in a pastoral role.
  • Providing the planning, teaching, raising up leaders, and coordinating volunteer assistance in the Youth Ministry.
  • The candidate is to align with the EEFC statement of faith and church constitution.

  • Building Relationships: Cultivates personal relationships with fellow leaders, staff, and attenders of the church and is willing to address conflictual situations as an opportunity for spiritual growth.

Evaluation & Reviews:

  • Serves under the leadership of the Senior Pastor.
  • The Elder Board will be responsible for annually reviewing this position.
